FREE TO BE (COME)

Saint Michael's 2010 Lenten Prayer Initiative

Alongside our current preaching series on the Holy Spirit, we invite the members of our different congregations to spend time during Lent praying and reflecting about:

  • who God is calling us to be,
  • the freedom we have as God's children and as His people,
  • and who God is calling us to become as individuals and as a corporate body of believers.

During the six Sundays of Lent, our focus will therefore be on three themes: being (weeks 1 and 2) , freedom (weeks 3 and 4) and becoming (weeks 5 and 6).

There are three ways in which you can participate in this prayer initiative:

1) You can use the meditation provided below to guide you in your prayers and reflections about “being”. Further mediations will be provided during the weeks when we consider “freedom” and “becoming”. Copies of these mediations are also available at the entrance to the church.

2) You may want to share the fruit of your prayers and reflections with other members of St Michael’s. At the entrance to the church, a special notice board has been created on the left-hand wall. Post-it notes have been made available so that you can share (anonymously, of course) what God has put on your heart, either concerning yourself or the church. Feel free to post your thoughts on the notice board at any time during Lent.

3) Similarly, a special section has been created on the St Michael’s Church portal ( http://portal.saintmichaelsparis.com/freetobecome ) with a presentation similar to that given on the notice board and on the meditation inserts. If you so desire, you may also share what you have received from God by posting an anonymous entry on the portal.

Meditation 1: BEING

Meditaon 2: FREEDOM

Meditation: 3: BECOMING
